How to use this blog... and how not to:

The most important bits on this page are in bold.

I've worked as a private tutor for years now, and the one resource I and my students are always searching for is a decent set of worked answers - not hardly legible hadwritten notes scanned in, or notes written by a genius who missed half the working because it was 'obvious'. I've seen students trying for hours to decipher the method from the marking scheme, not realising that the marking scheme is more meant to guide examiners in their marking than instruct students.

So I've written my own. This blog will, by summer 2016, contain worked answers for every Scottish Higher Mathematics exam paper since 2009. Thereafter I'll be adding answers for English A-levels.

Each post is a complete set of worked answers, with explanations for each step, and links to further resources where I don't have space for a full explanation. Each post is titled with the date, and paper name as it appears on the paper, so just use the blogs search engine. the top of each post has links to the paper itself, and the official marking scheme.

Lazy students might decide to use this to get quick answers they can just copy down. If you do that it might get your teacher off your back for a few weeks until they catch on - but you'll learn nothing and fail your exam. You might think you're too smart and special to fail.
You're not.
Especially you lot who just thought 'that's not meant for me, I know more about life than this guy'. You it applies to doubly.

If you still don't believe me, you're in trouble. Believe me, I've seen stuff that'd make you cry. And that's just the examiners comments on marked papers

So use this website as a resource, if you're stuck, if you're going wrong but the mark scheme isn't telling you how, if you' think you're applying the right method but you're still getting the wrong answer. But just copy these notes blindly and you'd better get to like hearing 'No' from employers, because even a McDonald's till operator needs Maths.

I'm here to help get you past your exams with a good mark... not just get your teacher off your back for a week.
